Principle of Generating 343 nm Ultraviolet Laser from 1030 nm (Third Harmonic Generation (THG), Cascaded Sum-Frequency Scheme)

Step 1: Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) (First Nonlinear Crystal LBO/BBO)

Two 1030 nm photons annihilate, generating one 515 nm green photon:
Incident: 1030 nm; Output Mixed Beam: Residual 1030 nm + Newly Generated 515 nm

Step 2: Sum-Frequency Generation to Generate 343 nm THG (Second Nonlinear Crystal)

One 1030 nm photon + one 515 nm photon simultaneously annihilate, generating one 343 nm ultraviolet photon:

Commercial 343 nm lasers are all generated by first frequency doubling and then sum-frequency generation (two-stage crystal);

Distinguishing from 355 nm: 1064 nm fundamental frequency → 532 → 355 nm; 1030 nm → 515 → 343 nm, two similar sets but with different wavelengths;
